Day 8: Jungle Zip Line

Hello All!

We've had a rather fun and somewhat relaxing day!

We were up bright and early this morning to head into the jungle for a bit of an adventure! We were picked up by the tour van around 7:30 and were surprised to find two Russian ladies were joining us. We also were surprised to discover that Russians don't share the same general underwear rules. It was a bit awkward at times....

We drove about an hour and a half to the starting point of our zip line journey! There we got our helmets and signed our names on some paper, not any kind of waiver or anything, just a regular piece of paper....Thai style. Then we loaded up into the back of a truck and started the "drive" up the mountain and into the jungle. I'm not sure if it really qualifies as a drive if there's no road...needless to say, it was a bumpy ride.

Once we got to wherever we were going, we were fitted for our harnesses and given some safety information. Next, we began the treacherous hike up to the first platform. I felt like I was in George of the Jungle.

The zip line was AWESOME! There were about 16 different lines we went on to get us back down the mountain, one of which was 300 meters long! We got some amazing views up there among the trees....unfortunately all the pictures are on my camera so I can't post them right now, but I will for sure be putting them up once I'm home!

After our zip lining adventure we were driven back down to the starting point and had a delicious lunch! Then we were driven back to town. The drive back wasn't quite as smooth, nor as cool, as the drive there, but we made it.

We got done earlier than we expected so Monica took us to see the Tamar Center bakery/coffee shop. It was really nice inside! Everything on the menu looked delicious! Mom got a peach smoothie and we all shared...it was the perfect refreshment after a long, hot ride in a smelly van with improperly underweared foreign women.

After the Tamar Center we went back to Monica's house and just chilled out for a while. Monica took Hilary to the bus station so she could go back to Bangkok to see some friends, so Mom, Halley and I got to just sit in front of a fan for a little while, it was quite nice!

Tonight we went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner, and ya know it was pretty good! I still don't know how I feel about corn in my quesadillas though.

After dinner we just walked around near the beach some. We looked in a few shops and went to this big outdoor market. All in all it was a pretty good day, very fun and not too stressful!
