Well folks it’s that time again...summer is fast approaching! And with it much planning, decision making and adventures. Several people have asked me what my next summer adventure will be so I decided it best to share it on here so everyone will be able to read and stay in the loop!
This summer I’ve been given the wonderful opportunity to spend the summer in Nice, France!
I will be a summer intern with Serve International, the missions arm of Denton Bible Church in Denton, Texas. I’ll be working with a team already in place! They work with two international English-speaking churches, one in Nice and one in St. Paul.
In July the team has a different outreach event every week! Some geared towards children, women, families, etc. June will mostly be preparing and training for July.
I’m not entirely certain of what my role will be. My plan is to make no plans and just do what they ask me to do!
I’m so very excited for this opportunity. I mean what better way to spend the summer than by "suffering" for the Lord in Southern France. Big sacrifice right? I know.
I am really excited about the opportunities I’ll have for training and growth. This summer will allow me to cement my language skills, and gain some much needed hands-on cross-cultural training.
I will ask something from you...will you support me through prayer? I’m very excited by this opportunity, but I do know that pure excitement isn’t enough. Excitement and enthusiasm will fade soon enough, homesickness can set in (especially given my previous experience in France), and Satan will certainly want to keep me from success, and especially from joy. So if you’re interested and could spare maybe a few minutes a day to lift a sister up I would greatly appreciate it.
Here’s just a few things to get you going:
- Pray that planning logistics and decisions are able to be made easily and with wisdom
- Pray that my heart would stay focused on my true purpose to bring glory to my Lord by raising up worshipers of Him from every tribe, tongue and nation
- That I would view France as a field ripe for harvest, and not as a vacation spot. I don’t want to be vacationary (vacationer+missionary) anymore!
- That the Lord would give me confidence in my language skills, and use this summer to really cement my French.
- That God would be glorified.
My internships starts June 9th and ends August 10th.
